Documentary letters of credit

A letter of credit - the bank-issuer conventional money obligation accepted on the payer (letter of credit applicant) order to make a payment for the money receiver benefit (Beneficiary) on the latter submitting the documents corresponding to the letter of credit conditions or to grant the power to make the payment to another bank.

Documentary letter of credit advantages

For the seller (exporter):

• A letter of credit - a bank payment obligation therefore the seller may be sure in the money receiving in case he timely submits the documents corresponding to the letter of credit conditions to the bank.
• Money receiving right after the goods delivery.
• The possibility to get the payment additional guarantee in the form of the first class foreign bank letter of credit confirmation.

For the purchaser (importer):

• A letter of credit widens the sources of goods supplies for the purchaser by way of confirming his paying ability.
• May allow the purchaser arranging for the goods supply and payment more favorable conditions.
• The possibility to refuse the most risky form of settlement - advance payment.
• Provides the documents expert examination. The purchaser may be sure that the seller will receive the payment only after the documentary letter of credit conditions and provisions are fulfilled and the Uniform rules and observed.

Bank Guarantee operations

Bank guarantee - the bank-guarantor obligation given under the client order (and due to him) to pay the money in the amount stipulated by the contract signed by the client and the money receiver to the bank guarantee receiver. The payment is made at the receiver written request and also the additional documents stipulated in the bank guarantee submitting.

Unlike the documentary letter of credit and documentary collection the bank guarantee is not a form of settlement between the contract parties but an instrument which is to provide the parties obligations fulfillment.
